黄胄，（1925年-1997年），河北蠡县人，汉族。著名中国画画家、收藏家，杰出的社会活动家。曾受命轻工部和文化部，领导创建了工艺美术展览馆和中国画研究院，任副院长；历任中国美术家协会理事，全国政协委员、常务委员。艺术道路上遵循“生活是创作的惟一源泉”，长期深入生活，勤奋作画。人物、动作、花鸟无所不精，开创新中国人物画一代新风。尤擅画场面宏大、人物众多的主体性巨作，陈列于中南海、人民大会堂等政务场合。其作品屡次获国际奖，受到海外内人士的爱戴。晚年集中毕生财力精力，筹建了中国第一座大型民办公助的艺术馆—炎黄艺术馆。为中国美术事业的发展和国际间艺术交流做出杰出贡献。出版有各种文本和不同形式的《黄胄作品集》30余种，理论集有《黄胄谈艺术》。

　　Huang Zhou (1925-1997), born in Li County, Hebei Province, Han Nationality, is a well-known Chinese painting artist, collector and an outstanding social activist. He once received orders from the Ministry of Light Industry and Ministry of Culture to establish Industrial Arts Exhibition Hall and China Painting Institute and acted as its vice-president. He has been a director of China Artists Association, a member and standing member of CPPCC. On the road of arts, he followed the rule that “life is the sole source of innovation” and went deep into life for long time and then made paintings industriously. All of his figure, action and flower and bird paintings are excellent, which starts a new style for New China’s figure painting. In particular, he is good at painting great works with grand scene and many figures that are to be exhibited at such political venues as Zhongnanhai Great Hall of the People. His works have been awarded with international prizes several times and favored by persons from home and abroad. In his later age, he devoted his money and energy in building Yanhuang Art Museum, China’s first large non-governmental, government-sponsored art museum, making outstanding contributions for the development of China’s fine arts cause and international arts exchange. He has published more than 30 types of Collections of Huang Zhou of various versions and forms, and a theoretical book Huang Zhou on Arts.
